New Performance Sports Drink from PowerBar

Sports nutrition company PowerBar has redesigned its Performance Sports Drink and it is on sale in specialist sports stores nationwide now.

In scientific studies by the company it was revealed that when athletes consumed a 2:1 mixture of glucose and fructose during intense, prolonged exercise, the maximum oxidation rate of ingested carbohydrates was 35 to 40 percent higher than when athletes consumed the same amount of calories from glucose alone.

In response, the PowerBar Performance Sports Drink has been reformulated to include this new state-of-the-science carbohydrate mixture, aimed at producing faster energy delivery to working muscles.

It will also feature greater levels of sodium. As sodium is essential for the storage of liquids in the body cells, by increasing these levels the amount of water excreted is reduced, which is said to lead to much more effective re-hydration. The formula also contains vitamin-B to support the energy metabolism.

The new PowerBar Performance Sports Drink comes in orange, berry and lemon flavours and is now available at a retail price of £9.99. The new mixing powder comes in a PET container that can be reused as a 750ml drinking bottle.

Elsewhere, PowerBar is revamping its ProteinPlus Recovery Drink. It is being re-launched in stylish new packaging and a new vanilla flavour and is available at a retail price of £11.99.
