A uniform approach to tennis

A new range of tennis wear developed by a partnership between sportswear companies, Prostar and Sports Kit 4 Kids, is claimed set to transform the look of junior tennis.
The companies have devised new colour coded
tennis wear to both reflect the game's colour coding for different skill levels for tennis players aged four to 11, and create a team spirit among young club players.
The new kits were officially launched at the Mini
tennis programme tournament, supported by the Yorkshire Lawn Tennis Association (YLTA) in
association with Aerial, at South Leeds Tennis
Centre, with nearly 50 children testing the new kits.
If the Yorkshire trial is successful the kits will be introduced to tennis clubs nationwide.
Over 100,000 children are involved in the
mini-tennis programme, which currently uses a colour coded system - red, orange and green - to
denote a young player's skill level before they
progress to using the standard yellow tennis ball.
In a separate development, Prostar is currently designing and developing a new item of clothing called a 'skort' - a cross between shorts and a skirt - for girls to wear while they take part in the programme.
