Castle Park reopens
BY Martin Nash

Castle Park in Frodsham, Cheshire, has reopened following the completion of a £3.2m refurbishment.

A partnership between Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWCC), Castle Park Charitable Trust, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Parks for People, the work include improvements to pathways and watercourses throughout the park, a new pavilion with café, a new natural play area, woodland management and landscaping of the old play area.

Also new are three tennis courts, a multi-use games area, a bowling green and a state of the art athletics track.

Councillor Richard Short, Executive Member for Culture and Recreation, who officially opened the park, said: "We are delighted that the park has been renovated to such a high standard and I hope that Frodsham residents enjoy the beautiful site for many years to come."

Chair of Castle Park Trust and local Frodsham and Helsby councillor, Les Ford, said: "I am really pleased that the works to restore Castle Park's historic landscape and improve facilities at the site are complete and the park has now officially re-opened to the public.

"We are looking for local residents to take centre stage in the future of the park, by joining the Friends of Castle Park community group, taking part in upcoming events and helping us to gain Green Flag status."
