Serco Leisure has named Simon Pittman as its new national membership sales manager.

Pittman, a leisure industry veteran, joined Serco last year as the regional sales manager for the Midlands.

During his 14-year fitness career, Pittman has had stints at Virgin Active, Everyone Active, Nuffield Health, David Lloyd Leisure, Anytime Fitness, Xercise4Less and DW Fitness.

He will be tasked with devising and implementing Serco's new national membership sales strategy.

"I’m looking forward to working alongside the wealth of experience we have in the central team to influence our regional sales forces across our growing business," Pittman said.

"We’ll be driving for improved regional consistency of our sales people, processes and product to deliver a more positive and measurable national commercial output."

Jon Hymus, Serco's commercial director, added that the appointment is part of the company's expansion strategy.

"This role is one of a number of recent appointments to the Serco Leisure central commercial team and will further strengthen and support the plans we have for growth over the next 18 to 24 months," Hymus said.

Serco Leisure currently operates more than 60 facilities on behalf of clients across England, Northern Ireland and Jersey. The company has a turnover of over £16m and employs around 3,000 staff.
