Florida-based LaFlore Live Probiotic Skincare is the first probiotic skincare company to be Kind To Biome certified.

The international certification is designed to offer spa owners and consumers a recognisable mark that a product is gentle on the skin and scalp microbiome.

The spa and skincare brand achieved the seal following thorough testing and evaluations of its formulas’ effects on the skin microbiome.

“Due to the current state of cosmetic regulation and as a leader in the emerging probiotic skincare category, we feel it’s our responsibility to provide unbiased scientific support to claims such as microbiome friendly,” shares Brent Ballard, chief operating officer of Dakota Biotech (LaFlore’s parent company).

“This category is here to stay, and consumers need to know being microbiome-friendly is more than a marketing term.”

“As the microbiome era starts to unfold, knowledgeable consumers are seeking out truly skin microbiome-friendly skincare products,” said Leo Salvi, head of science at Kind To Biome.
“The Kind To Biome seal provides consumers and spa professionals with dependable third-party assurance as to the skin microbiome gentleness of products.”

Michael Tompkins named company board advisor
In other news, industry figure and partner at hospitality recruiting firm Hutchinson Consulting Michael Tompkins has been appointed as a board advisor for LaFlore and Dakota Biotech.

With a dual focus on best practices in luxury hospitality and emerging trends in guest preferences and lifestyle choices, Tompkins has been appointed thanks to his experience at leveraging brand positioning and expansion to capitalise on the growing trend towards the adoption of health and wellness as a lifestyle in luxury and mainstream markets.

Tompkins’ career has included CEO positions with Miraval Resorts, Hilton Head Health and PALM Health, plus executive positions with Canyon Ranch Health Resorts.

He’s also previously chaired the International Spa Association (ISPA) and co-authored three books pertaining to health and wellness.

More about LaFlore
LaFlore is designed to support optimal skin health by boosting its natural beneficial bacteria with live plant-based probiotics.

Using touch-activated multibiotics, LaFlore’s vegan and cruelty-free products are designed to help each individual’s unique skin microbiome produce postbiotics the skin needs to mend and thrive naturally.

These postbiotics include AHA, PHA, BHA, vitamins like retinol (vitamin A), antimicrobial peptides, amino acids and micronutrients, as well as antioxidants, anti-inflammatory substances, ceramides and more.

As further support, LaFlore has a patent (US 10,959,950) for encapsulation of live probiotics allowing them to remain dormant for more than two years without the need for refrigeration. The formulas are only activated when applied to the skin making them easy to keep in spa treatment rooms.
