DJ taking care of turf

DJ Turfcare is to launch three new products at the January 2009 BIGGA Turf Management Exhibition in Harrogate.

The first of these is the Turfsaver, a new machine from the US that de-thatches and overseeds (or fertilises) in one compact unit, said to be ideal for contractors, greenkeepers and groundspeople. The machine comes fitted with blades to verti-cut and covers a 22in wide swathe in a single pass.

The Elephant’s Trunk is designed for the cutting of hedges and bushes on both golf courses and estate grounds. Claiming to eliminate back, shoulder, neck and arm strain thanks to a harness that the hedgetrimmer is then clipped onto, the Elephant’s Trunk is said to reduce the weight of any hedgetrimmer to just 1kg.

The third new product is Recovery from Viano’s organic range of fertilisers. New to the UK from Belgium, this granulated product is intended to restore damaged turf that has suffered stress through drought or waterlogging, and contains both Humifirst – derived from organic manure – and magnesium for maintaining grass colour.

The Surrey-based company will also be showcasing the Atom Golf Bunker Edger (pictured) from Australia, two new Plugger aerator models from SourceOne and Viano fertilisers including MO Bacter, an organic slow-release fertiliser, which eliminates moss and biologically digests the debris with no need for raking.
