Recycled plastic a success with skateboarders

One of the recent projects at Wark Sports Club near Newcastle was the installation of a number of skateboard ramps, financed by fundraising by the local community.
As part of an upgrade to provide more extensive facilities at the site, the club decided to purchase two quarter pipes, one grind rail and one driveway with planter.
Provided by skateboard ramp supplier, Urban Ramps, all of the ramps are made of waste plastic film, which would otherwise end up as landfill.
Recycled plastic is an ideal material for use in products such as skateboard ramps as it is exceptionally durable, without needing regular upkeep. The material is also graffiti resistant and difficult to ignite, making it ideal for open areas and those with limited security where vandalism is a concern.
For sites where noise levels can be an issue, it is also quieter than a lot of other materials.
Following the success of the new ramps, the club has revealed that it will now actively consider recycled materials for future projects.
