Free publicity for leisure venues

A one day workshop to teach operators how to generate leads via free publicity in the local media has been announced by Promote PR.

The training day will take place at the SkillsActive London office on Tuesday, November 21 2006 and is aimed at all health club and leisure centre personnel tasked with attracting new members and raising bottom line profit.

The workshop, entitled 'Practical PR' marks the launch of the Promote PR training division. Already a leading provider of public relations support in the leisure sector, Promote has expanded its offering to help operators identify and utilise free coverage opportunities in their local media.

Promote has assisted many of the most successful groups - including LA Fitness, Esporta, DC Leisure, Holmes Place, Leisure Connection and Fitness First - to raise awareness of their brands both on a local and national level. Now for the first time Promote is offering to share its expertise to help individuals identify media opportunities beyond simply placing paid for advertisements.

Sue Anstiss, founder and managing director of Promote, says: “Many club operators and marketing personnel are not fully aware of the opportunities that exist in the media to generate free and low cost publicity. Whilst running an advertising campaign will help to raise brand awareness and generate leads, it can be very costly. Our training course will provide delegates with the tools they need to secure coverage without eating into their limited marketing budgets.”

The workshop will be presented by Sue Anstiss and Katie Start, account manager, both of whom have presented many seminars on behalf of the FIA and have written public relations training manuals for a number of operators.
