New playground safety guide launched

New from Matta Products is a free playground safety surfacing booklet.

The 16-page publication is aimed at helping play providers, playground designers and specifiers - especially in local government - make the right choices from all the available options.

It reviews every type of children's playground safety surfacing. These include bark chip, wet pour, sand, grass, and interlocking rubber mats either for grass to grow through or to go on solid surfaces.

Speaking at the launch of the booklet, Matta Products' managing director, Lynne Vanes, said: “In addition to surfacing new play areas, we are often called in to replace other types of safety surfacing that is damaged, has deteriorated or is inappropriate.

"That is extra cost councils could avoid if they had selected the most suitable surface to start with. We hope this booklet helps them with that."
