Mars extends protein range with new Mars Bar protein powder

Mars protein powder is made from 100 percent protein and contains 24g of protein per serving
Latest research from Mintel finds that as many as one in four Brits have consumed a sports nutrition product in the past 3 months, rising to 42 percent of men between the ages of 16 and 24.

Almost half of these consumers who use the products say these are part of their everyday diet, illustrating the increasing appeal to everyday ‘lifestyle’ users.

Following the successful launch of Mars, Snickers and Bounty Protein Bars, Mars Chocolate Drinks and Treats – part of Mars Chocolate UK - is extending its protein product range with the introduction of Mars Protein Powder.

The new protein powder will have the unmistakable taste of Mars distinctive caramel and delicious chocolate, packed with 24g of protein and 5.4g of BCAA’s per serving. With less than 200 calories, shoppers can now treat themselves and enjoy the great taste of Mars in their post-workout shake.

Michelle Frost, general manager for Mars Chocolate Drinks and Treats, says: “The top two sports nutrition products used are protein based, with one in ten of us having consumed both a protein bar, and a protein powder product in the last three months. We initially launched our Mars and Snickers Protein Bars less than a year ago, and recently introduced the Bounty brand to the bar range.”

“Consumer interest has been extremely positive, and as the first major confectionery brand to offer protein product alternatives in the UK, we find we are increasingly appealing to these lifestyle users. These are buyers who know and trust the brands, and demonstrate little loyalty to the more specialised brands that operate in this market. The introduction of Mars Protein Powder is a natural extension to our range, and complements the existing line of protein bars for the growing number of protein consumers who use both.”

The new Mars Protein Powder will be available in 800g and 1.8kg tubs, retailing at £37.99 and £74.99 respectively.

Never compromising on taste, the new powder boasts the unmistakable blend of distinctive caramel and delicious chocolate, packed with 24g of protein and 5.4g of BCAA’s per serving.
