Poolscan unveils new video system for swim training

New from Poolscan and officially launched in the UK at the recent British Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association Annual Conference, is a wireless, real-time underwater video system for training and coaching swimmers.

The system comes in two parts, with the Base Unit being in a waterproof case housing a 7.5in monitor, digital video recorder with a 40gb hard drive, and memory card facilities.

Individual or team performances can not only be viewed in real time but also recorded and viewed later and stored on individual memory cards.

The second part of the system - the Wireless Camera Unit - consists of an underwater colour camera on a telescopic pole, which relays real time views to the base station. This wireless facility means unrestricted use and no trip hazards for other pool users.

Another key element is a 3.5in mini-monitor on the pole. This allows coaches to check that the camera view is exactly what is wanted; without it - says the company - it can be hit and miss as to exactly where the camera is pointing.

The combination of a wireless system combined with lightweight rechargeable battery packs has been designed to give great flexibility to water sports professionals, providing them with underwater views which would previously have been difficult or expensive to obtain.

The facility for recording individual performances on a flash card not only gives a useful progress record for all standard of students but will also be useful as a revenue generator by enabling teachers and coaches to charge for the use of the new coaching technology.

Poolscan can also be used as a facilities management tool - for pool plant and maintenance for example – and to support pool training programmes such as that for lifeguards.

Following the UK launch, a similar event is scheduled to take place in Europe early next year.
