The Health and Fitness Institute (THFI) proudly announces its prestigious partnership with The UK Sports Institute ahead a busy summer of sport. This collaboration is aimed at empowering current UK elite athletes with robust career pathways in the health, fitness, and wellbeing sector, emphasising the importance of preparing athletes for life beyond the competitive arena.

The UK Sports Institute is renowned for its commitment to excellence, having played a pivotal role in supporting athletes and coaches, contributing to over 1,000 major medals on the world stage. As a leading force in athlete development, The UK Sports Institute's dedication to success aligns seamlessly with THFI's mission to provide comprehensive education and training programs, including their market-leading Level 3 personal trainer course, that extend beyond mere certification.

"At THFI, we recognise the critical role education plays in empowering athletes to thrive beyond their sporting careers," said THFI Managing Director, Dan Rees. "Many successful athletes, either through personal choice, deselection, or injury, find themselves retiring from competitive sport at a relatively young age. It is, therefore, really important that they start to think about an alternative career they can step into when the time is right.

"Our partnership with the UK Sports Institute and its Performance Lifestyle team represents a monumental opportunity to support athletes in charting meaningful paths as fitness professionals, personal trainers, wellness coaches, leveraging their unique skills and experiences to make a lasting impact in the health and wellness industry."

Marcia Bailey, Performance Lifestyle Technical Lead at The UK Sports Institute, stated: "Global sporting events transcend mere athletic competition, they serve as a platform for inclusion, empowerment, and societal transformation. Through our partnership with THFI, we aim to empower athletes to transition seamlessly into fulfilling careers, leveraging their talents to create positive change in communities worldwide."

As the world prepares for the Paris 2024 Games, THFI and the UK Sports Institute are dedicated to equipping athletes with the necessary tools and knowledge to excel in their post-competition endeavours. With a shared commitment to excellence and innovation, they work alongside UK Sport and the British Elite Athletes Association to support athlete transition and career development by ensuring that every athlete has the opportunity to flourish beyond the field of play.

THFI was born out of frustration with Personal Trainer education companies. We make the difference in a market that focuses on volume not quality. Our core principles focus on preparing PT’s for the real world; we continue to mentor individuals through their first 12 months, after achieving their qualifications.
