Rada Controls, the commercial division of Kohler Mira, has designed a water delivery system for the Beijing Olympics swimming pools.

The system is being used in innovative 'pre-wash' stations for athletes using the entry and exit corridors to and from the pools.

The exterior elements of the stations are fronted with Kohler Water Tiles, which create a 22-nozzle body spray, with the Rada system delivering the water through nine ceiling mounted tile banks.

The Rada Pulse multiple outlet infra red control system with ceiling mounted sensors was specified for the installation, each pre-wash station being served by two fully TMV3 compliant Rada 222-T3 thermostatic mixing valves.

In total there are 10 water stations servicing the two Olympic pools in the Centre, each with nine Kohler Water Tiles, two Rada 222-T3 TMV’s and a Rada Pulse installation on each.

The US$100m 'Water Cube' which houses the Beijing National Swimming Centre for the XXIX Olympiad contains - in addition to the two Olympic-size pools - a diving pool, leisure water features and seating for 17,000 spectators.

It has been designed for year round use by the residents of Beijing once the Olympics are completed.
