The new £8.4m Grimsby Leisure Centre is now open for business, bringing a raft of new facilities to the adjoining Burnett Leisure Complex.

The FaulknerBrowns Architects-designed centre forms part of the wider Burnett Leisure Complex including the Grimsby Auditorium and existing Grimsby Leisure Centre (featuring an ice rink, sports hall and wellness facilities). The official opening was held earlier this month, with the unveiling of a plaque commemorating the late North East Lincolnshire councillor Mick Burnett, who was a passionate advocate of all sport and leisure, and worked tirelessly to see this project realised.

Standout features of the new facility include a 25m (82ft), eight-lane swimming pool and a specialist learner pool. There is also a 60-station gym with equipment from Matrix Fitness and a group exercise studio. Customers using these facilities have separate dry changing rooms, plus a wet-changing village which houses a sauna and steamroom.

The new Grimsby Leisure Centre is a North East Lincolnshire Council project delivered with its regeneration partner Engie. The building was project managed by Engie, constructed by Interserve and is operated by Lincs Inspire.

"This is a fabulous addition to the Burnett Leisure Complex, providing top class facilities for the community to enjoy and placing key services together in one location so that entertainment, leisure and health improvement is all available and accessible,” said Sue Wells, CEO of Lincs Inspire.

“The three venues complement each other and enhance the company's overall services across the borough, making sure we continue to support improved community health and wellbeing."
