Construction work on planned leisure projects is beginning to return to normal across the UK.

One of those returning to business is Alliance Leisure, which this month (June 2020) has begun work on two major leisure centre projects.

The company is delivering a £17.4m leisure hub for Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council in Dudley, Worcestershire.

Facilities will include a health club with a 100-station gym floor, two group exercise studios, an immersive indoor cycling studio and a power-assisted exercise space.

There will also be a 25 metre, eight-lane swimming pool, teaching pool with spectator provision, a four-court sports hall and a soft play area with catering facilities.

In Swanley, Kent, Alliance is working on a £20m leisure centre for Sevenoaks District Council.

The £20m White Oak Leisure Centre will replace the existing centre of the same name, which dates to the 1960s and was extended in the 1970s.

Facilities at the new leisure centre, which was designed by Saunders Boston Architects, will include a health club with a 100-station gym floor and two studios; a 25m, six-lane swimming pool with movable floor; a learner pool and a viewing area serving both pools.

There will also be a multi-purpose sports hall, an interactive Tag Active arena designed for families and a "Feel Good Suite", featuring power-assisted equipment targeting people with limited mobility, the elderly and those managing long-term conditions.

says: “In committing to building a new, modern leisure centre for Swanley, we are investing in the single largest Council construction project in a generation.

“We are excited to be working with Alliance Leisure as our development partner to deliver this new, environmentally friendly centre that will serve the residents of this part of the district and beyond for many years to come.”

Construction company ISG is building the new centre, which will be managed by Everyone Active, who secured the contract through the UK Leisure Framework.
