Pocket Rocket Marketing has launched a training academy to deliver education to the health, fitness and wellness industry.

Speaking to HCM, director Cheriee Wales said the company had identified a need for soft skills training in the sector and would be supporting operators and equipment suppliers to deliver this.

The new business is seeking accreditation.

Training will be customised to the needs of clients and delivered through a network of educators, such as Keith Smith, Paul Russell and Andy Phillips, with the aim of driving the retention of both staff and members.

The academy will be headed by Nick Mennell, formerly global education manager at Life Fitness.

Mennell said: “We’ve identified a need within the industry to provide experience-led education across private health clubs, local authorities and trusts, as well as supporting manufacturers with product-to-application programming.

“Pocket Rocket Academy will work to establish customer needs in order to deliver a collaborative education pathway, aligning our tutors to create the best possible experience for all.”

The academy will deliver training around PT experiences and member retention interactions, as well as training relating to the support of specific demographics, small group training, strength and conditioning, small equipment experiences, lifting clinics and the creation of engaging environments for exercisers.

Smith said “Having worked with Nick Mennell and Cheriee Wales for over 20 years, I’m excited to be delivering educational experiences to the health and wellness sector, alongside fellow tutors Paul and Andy, through Pocket Rocket Academy”.

Wales said: “Collaborations with our existing operator and supplier customers will enable us to add value by tailoring educational content that inspires excellence.

“We’re hopeful our new Academy service will open up further opportunities for the company, while also strengthening our existing relationships.”
